it would be natural to want to travel to our ancestral home.
“As I logged onto my computer in excitement, I began to search for flights to Cameroon. To my dismay, I found that there were no direct flights! In order to travel to Cameroon, I would have to fly to various countries and spend an excessive amount of time in layovers, waiting for my next flight. I would have to hope that each flight arrives to the next destination on time and the lines are not so long so I would make it to the next flight. If I miss one flight, my entire trip would be delayed. How discouraging!”What is a workable solution for this dilemma? Direct flights between United States and Cameroon would resolve everything. Even if the flights are only once or twice a week, it would be better than the delays and stress experienced traveling the current routes. The
current cost of flights range from $1,500 to $5,000 based on the season and flight status.
As we are learning more about our Cameroon heritage, we want to see our home. We would also like to share our American experience with our Cameroon friends and family. We want to bring our friends and family members to Cameroon so they will have the life changing encounters that can only occur there.
Historically speaking, Americans love to tour and spend money. Local shops, markets and restaurants will increase in business as well as the hotels and resorts. Some may even opt to purchase land and establish businesses there. Americans will also be able to volunteer and work with local organizations on various projects. As more flights begin to come to America, Cameroonians will be able to travel more easily, and tour as well.
By creating direct flights, the cost of travel would be drastically reduced, travel to and from Cameroon would increase. This will boost tourism because more reasonable plans can be established and advertised. An additional benefit would be the jobs that direct flights would create. Direct flights will afford the Cameroonians of the Diaspora like me, the opportunity to return home more often, increasing the bond with our native land and people.
The cultural exchange alone is priceless and worth exploring. The possibilities are endless.
