Call to Action
Tiko, our hometown, used to be the economic heartbeat of former West Cameroon, with its rubber, banana and palm plantations, the vibrant fishing port and the always-packed Tiko Main Market. It was the principal seaport, airport and a major destination for tourists visiting Cameroon, especially for golf lovers coming for a weekend at the famous Tiko Golf Club. In recent years, Tiko, though still a hub of agro-industrial activity, seems like a city that time is slowly leaving behind. With an estimated population of above 48,000 inhabitants, a new mayor in Hon. Richard Tita, and hundreds of native sons and daughters living in the diaspora, the time has come for all of us to work together to put Tiko back on the map.
Introducing ATRUSA
ATRUSA is the Association of Tiko Residents in the United States of America, the newly-formed association whose objective is to unite all sons and daughters of Tiko resident in the USA under one umbrella non-profit organization for the purpose of defining, designing and implementing development projects in Tiko. After initial consultations with Mayor Richard Tita, himself a former long-time US resident, ATRUSA has formulated a formal request for landed property from the Tiko Urban Council, on which the ATRUSA Permanent House - a community building for us all - will be built. This project should involve all of us living in the USA. For that purpose, please fill in the sign-up form so as to receive valuable information regarding not only this very important project, but also updates on ATRUSA activities.
